Germany’s Sandra Gal got game. She proved it with her first win, which came in late March at the Kia Classic. Gal’s was an exciting win over Jiyai Shin, world number two, with a closing birdie on the 18th hole to win by a shot.

Mobile, Ala. (AP) – Sandra Gal birdied five of the final eight holes Friday for a 5-under 67 and a one stroke lead over Amy Yang in the Avnet LPGA Classic, the tour’s only event in a six-week stretch.





 

Gal, who won the Kia Classic, last month in California for her first LPGA Tour title, had a 7-under 137 total on The Crossings course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trails Magnolia Grove complex
