Day 3

Kingsmill Championship Shortens to 54 Holes Due to Weather

Mother Nature just has not cooperated this week in Williamsburg, Virginia.

After overnight rain on Thursday and Friday saturated the River Course at Kingsmill Resort, rain persisted on Saturday morning forcing officials to delay the resumption of the second round before ultimately calling play for the day around 1:00 p.m.

There were no shots hit on Saturday.

With still 60 players left to finish round two from Friday, the event has officially been shortened to 54 holes. The second round will resume Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Tournament officials are hoping to start the final round at 10:30 a.m. with a split-tee start.

Officials considered keeping the Kingsmill Championship a 72-hole event, but due to the Sunday forecast, the decision was made to shorten to 54 holes.

The possibility of the tournament spilling into Monday is still on the table.
